About Edmond

Early Life

Edmond was born on August 15, 1982, in Limassol, Cyprus. He has two siblings, Louis Hawila and Mireille Hawila.

His father, Najib Hawila, comes from Lebanon. Due to the civil war, many families and businesses relocated to Cyprus in the early 1980s, including his family.

His mother, Skevi Hawila, comes from a refugee family originally from Famagusta, following the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus.

Growing up in a family shaped by displacement and resilience, Edmond developed from an early age a strong sense of responsibility, perseverance, and contribution to society.

Education

Edmond completed his primary education at St. Mary’s School in Limassol and continued his studies at Kalogeropoulio Gymnasium in Mesa Geitonia. He later attended the B’ Technical School of Limassol, specialising in Computing.

As a member of the Lebanese Maronite community in Cyprus, he was exempt from mandatory military service. However, driven by a strong sense of duty and respect for his family’s history, he chose to voluntarily serve in the Cyprus National Guard.

He served at the Andreas Papandreou Air Base in Paphos for nine months.

Career

In 2001, Edmond began his career in Information Technology as a junior technician. Over the years, he progressed steadily, taking on increasing responsibilities and developing strong technical and leadership skills.

Today, he is part of the management team of a multinational IT services provider, with hands-on experience in:

  • team leadership
  • operations and process development
  • delivering practical, results-driven solutions

Political Path

For more than 10 years, he was actively involved with the Cyprus Green Party – Citizens’ Cooperation, gaining valuable experience in political processes, environmental issues, and social engagement.

Since January 2026, he has continued his journey as a Parliamentary Candidate for Limassol with ALMA, aiming to contribute to a more direct, transparent, and effective political approach.

Today, Edmond combines his professional experience, civic engagement, and personal values with the goal of contributing meaningfully to a better, fairer, and more sustainable society.
