Edmond has consistently participated in various volunteering efforts in multiple organisations, including his involvement with the Cyprus Green Party. Yes, he is a volunteer in the Cyprus Green Party, just like most of its members! The fact is that his initial decision to join the Party was motivated by the multitude of hands-on and practical activities they organize to improve the living conditions of the local community.

Beginning with his involvement with the Green Party, he took the opportunity to also participate in other volunteer groups. Throughout the years, he participated in a number of Tree Plantings, Beach Cleanups, Protests, European Events and other forms of activism not only in Cyprus but also in the UK and Belgium.

After his grandfather’s passing in 2018, Edmond was inspired to help children in need. He thus discovered an NGO named “Friends of the Limassol Children’s Home”. This is an organisation that supports the Limassol Children’s Home, which operates under the Government’s Social Services. This Home provides housing and care to young children whose parents are unable to provide for them. The “Friends of the Limassol Children’s Home” organization supplements the Government’s Services with extracurricular activities, services that the Government won’t or can’t provide, as well as ensuring that the children get everything they need to be in a good place both physically and mentally . The NGO enables a child, depending on their needs and wants, to learn a new language, dance, music instrument or join any other class or activity. They also provide extra therapy options, like Equine-assisted therapy, music therapy etc, for children in need. Edmond is an active member for the past 3 years and now serves as the President since August 2021.

Edmond co-founded “Positive Minds”, a fairly New Toastmasters club in Limassol, Cyprus. Toastmasters is a 95-year old Global Organisation that has presence in 143 countries and helps people develop their Communication and Leadership skills. His efforts started in 2016, and he managed to officially charter Positive Minds as a Toastmasters Club in 2019. All this has been an entirely voluntary effort on his part. He is also the Vice President of Public Relations of the Toastmasters Cyprus Area. Through the Toastmasters community, Edmond is able to receive and share knowledge on personal development with his peers in a safe and conducive environment.

Because of his passion for the Environment and Activism, he is also a member of the “Friends of the Earth” chapter of Cyprus, where he actively attends seminars and protests and assists the NGO with their administration.

In 2020, he attended a 3-day event analysing GAS as a Fossil Fuel and providing information regarding the plans of the huge project EastMed and efforts to avert this.

Attributable to his passion for a hands-on approach, Edmond joined the “Firefighters of the World”. This is an NGO focusing on training individuals to be able to assist in times of crisis such as earthquakes, floods, fires etc. Edmond has been training on several aspects of crisis management including First Aid, Firefighting and monitoring the Control Center of a major crisis.

In addition, he is an active member of the “The Art of Living” foundation, where he also volunteers. This is a global NGO present in more than 150 countries running humanitarian projects as well as self-improvement, meditation and yoga courses based on a technique called Sudarshan Kriya (SKY). The Art of Living has been aiding communities in all the countries they have a presence in, but has also been commissioned by several organisations like the European Union to provide help to countries in need. An example is Lebanon, where their methods assisted children and adults manage their stress and find a new path and vision for life.

Last but not least Edmond is a member and an Ambassador of Better Globe. Although technically, Better Globe isn’t a volunteer organisation, they call their operation “business driven philanthropy” or “social enterprise”. Better Globe plants trees in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, providing locals with fresh water, community infrastructure and investment, microfinancing and local jobs. Members can purchase “Donation Packages” to support all these initiatives, while simultaneously getting a return from the trees’ yield and timber and assisting in reducing carbon in the atmosphere.
